What the app does
Four friends on a weekend up north. One paid for the cabin, another for gas, someone else for the groceries. At the end everyone looks at each other and tries to remember.
EasySplit solves this without a spreadsheet. You open a session, everyone adds what they paid, and the app works out each person's balance on its own: who is in the red, who is in the black, and by how much. Instead of everyone paying everyone, it reduces it to the smallest number of transfers that settles the account, and every transfer has a WhatsApp share button.

A shared kitty
For a long trip or an event there is a second mode: a kitty. Everyone puts in an amount, and all the expenses come out of the kitty instead of settling up again every time. You can see how much is left, how much each person put in, and what has already been spent.
Inside the kitty there is a group chat, so planning what to buy and when to book the flights happens in the same place as the money, not in a separate WhatsApp thread nobody can find.

What's inside
- Sessions for one time splits, and shared kitties for the long term
- Automatic calculation of balances and of the minimum number of transfers
- Splitting an expense among all participants or only some of them
- A real time group chat inside the kitty
- Sharing the debt summary on WhatsApp in one tap
- Joining with a share code, without inviting people one by one
- Support for shekels, dollars and euros
- Full Hebrew and RTL, built for mobile

How it was built
React and TypeScript on the client, Node.js and Express on the server, MongoDB for data, and Socket.IO for the real time chat. Sign in with email and password or with a Google account.
Want a system like this?
EasySplit was built from scratch, from specification to launch. The same process works for any other idea: a client management app, a booking system, an internal tool for your team. If you have an idea and you are not sure it can be built, that is exactly the question to ask.
